History & Benefits of Yoga
History of Yoga
Modern day Yoga in the West focuses mainly on 'asana' practice, which broadly speaking, can be described as moving through various different poses while performing mindfulness and breath control. It is this unique combination that allows you to benefit physically, mentally and emotionally.
Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word Yuj which means to unite, and is the union of mind, body and spirit. Traditionally, Yoga dates back at least 3000 years and was an ancient spiritual practice and way of life and reserved for very few, however now it has been made accessible to many people who incorporate it into their lives for the endless health benefits it has.
